The pressure cooker is one of my favorite cooking devices and I can definitely say that it is a life saver in our house. Anyone who has family to cook for knows that preparing healthy meals on those busy weeknights can be difficult. This is one of the best weapons I have in my kitchen arsenal for assisting in timely, healthy meals.
There are a plethora of pressure cooking recipes online but just remember that many recipes can be modified for pressure cooking. The pressure cooker is great for quickly cooking dried grains, beans and frozen meats. This is one of the reasons it’s so great for soups & stews and it makes it really easy to incorporate healthy grains like steel cut oats or barley into your diet that would otherwise have a much longer cooking time.
One of my favorite online resources for pressure cooking is here. This website has an abundant amount of information and instructions on pressure cooking including time charts and recipes.
Use your pressure cooker to make some Chicken Tortilla Soup for dinner tonight!
Me too – pressure cooking is one of my favorite cooking methods. I have fond memories of my grandma telling me her pressure cooker horror stories in the kitchen! But unlike her generation, they’re much safer to use these days and pressure cookers are very beautiful nowadays too.
